This Weeks Musical Memories will feature the Les Brown Orchestra with Doris Day.
Doris’s real name is Kappelhoff. It was changed to Day after her rendition of the song Day after Day.
Besides, the name Kappelhoff was too long for the marquees.
One of Doris Day’s biggest hits was Sentimental Journey with Les Brown. Interesting enough the first time she sang it the reaction was negligible and nobody seemed impressed. But then after a few radio broadcasts the mail started to pour in. The rest is History the song turned out to become number #1 for Doris and Les in 1945.
We’ll feature that song as well as other great hits from Doris Day and Les Brown.
Musical Memories will also feature hits from the 40s 50s and early 60.
Tune in from noon to 5pm each Sunday afternoon for some of the greatest music ever recorded on 1360 KMJM or 1360KMJM.com
