Cameron Diaz and husband and Benji Madden, co-founder of 90s rock band Good Charlotte, have been married for nearly 10 years, and Diaz credits their healthy union to one "big thing."

The Other Woman star recently appeared on brother-in-law Joel Madden's Artist Friendly podcast, revealing that she and her partner keep their spark alive with communication techniques they learn in therapy.

"It’s what we depend on, so you have that commitment to work on it." The standout revealed that routine therapy keeps her and Madden from repeating the same unproductive actions over and over.

“Why didn’t it work? How can I make it work? What’s my part? What’s the other person’s work?”

Not only is the pair equipped with the tools to ask each other necessary questions that make them more "self-aware," but they both genuinely want to be present in the experience.

“You can’t be in a marriage and have a family if … both people are not 100 percent every day. Nobody can be 99 and the other one be 100.”

Joel (who founded Good Charlotte with his brother in the mid-90s) is married to 2000s It girl Nicole Richie, and shared that they also go to therapy together and find it very rewarding.

"[It helps us] either resolve something or create a new understanding of a new process together."

Diaz and Madden have been married since January 2015 and share daughter Raddix, 4, and son Cardinal, 8 months, per Page Six.
